Got Questions?
This section covers the most common questions people ask about wax polish products and their use.
Most surfaces benefit from wax polish application every 2-3 months under normal use. High-traffic areas or frequently handled items may need treatment monthly, while decorative pieces used less often can go 4-6 months between applications.
Wax polish works well on most finished wood surfaces, including lacquered, varnished, and previously waxed pieces. It should not be applied to raw or unfinished wood, as this can cause uneven absorption and staining.
Paste formulas typically provide longer-lasting protection and are better for antique or delicate surfaces, while liquid versions offer easier application and quicker coverage for larger areas. Both deliver similar protective benefits.
Most wax polishes need 15-30 minutes to set before buffing. The surface should feel dry to the touch and not tacky. Complete curing happens within 2-4 hours, after which the surface reaches full durability.
Light surface scratches and minor scuffs often become less visible after wax application and buffing. Deep scratches that catch a fingernail typically require repair work before wax polish application for best results.

My grandmother’s dining table looked beyond saving until I tried Renaissance. The depth it brought back to the mahogany was incredible – it’s like the wood came alive again.

As a violin maker, I need wax that won’t interfere with the instrument’s resonance. Renaissance has been perfect for my final finish work. Clean application, no residue buildup.
